Tiffany

Last week we shared a trip that we made to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley where we saw two wonderful exhibits.  You can see the Steinlen Cats here.  Today it’s about Tiffany.  This beautiful exhibit will be there until September 1st and it is worth the trip to get over to Winchester to see it.  Here is just a few of the glass masterpieces.

20190710_195948.jpgI always love it when groups set up a Paint Party with suggestions of paintings they want to do.  A few years ago we did an amazing evening river painting with our friends at North Fork Campground.  Now they are planning a new paint party with this idea.  They sent a great photo that we developed into a painting.  Can’t wait.  It will be fun!

Open Studio

20190713_163909.jpg Did you know that every Friday at The Studio from 10-1 you can come and work on those projects that you just can’t seem to get done at home….or need someone to give you a little help?  Sometimes people paint, sometimes we crochet, sometimes we sew….you just never know what might be going on!  But the one thing that always happens is FUN!  We have fun at The Studio.  This past Friday Sandra continue the sewing lesson she has been doing with Sandy.  The jacket is almost there!  Can’t wait to see their finished project.

20190712_055934.jpgYesterday we painted Van Gogh’s Wheat Field and Cypress at Art Camp.  The kids did an awesome job on these.  They loved that it was sort of a day time version of Starry Night with all the swirls in the sky.  We still have a few more sessions of art camp this summer.  Check it out here for your young artist.

20190710_131429.jpg Even though we now have a resident dog….Lincoln…at the Studio we painted cats!  Matisse Cat yesterday at Art Camp.  They were so much fun for the kids to do and quite challenging.  Great work by everyone….and Lincoln didn’t mind seeing the cats.  🙂

20190710_064812.jpgYesterday I celebrated my birthday by painting a beautiful Matisse painting with the Art Camp Kids.  This is “Still Life, Bouquet of Dahlias and White Book by Henri Matisse from  1923.   This week we are studying Monet, Matisse and Van Gogh and since Matisse is my favorite we did one of his.  They did amazing work as we did a little large canvas.  Nice job everyone!!!

20190708_185902.jpgYesterday the kids started a week of Art Camp by painting a beautiful Monet. “Walk in the Meadows at Argenteuil” was created by Claude Monet in 1873. He painted this scene of his wife and son in a flowering meadow with the light cascading across the background.  The kids did a great job recreating it in the short time we had yesterday morning.  Today we will be studying Matisse.  Can’t wait!

Yesterday I had an early Birthday celebration with two wonderful friends.  We had a nice lunch and then went over to the  Museum of the Shenandoah Valley where we saw two amazing exhibits – Steinlen Cats and Tiffany Glass.  Today I’ll share the Cats!  The exhibit features 26 cat themed works by Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923).  The is an artist best know for his Art Nouveau posters.

It’s a beautifully displayed exhibit.  Don’t miss it.  It is there until September 1, 2019.

We start another great session of Art Camp tomorrow with kids ages 8-13.  It’s not too late to register your young painter. This will be the BEST week as it’s my Birthday week so we will be having some surprises during this one.  WooHoo!  Click here to register.
