Jazzy belongs to one of my best friend’s mother. She is a Soft Wheaten Terrier and they live in North Carolina. This is a portrait that she had commissioned for her mom for Christmas. I wish I had remembered to take a photo before I framed it so there wouldn’t be such a glare on the photo but here it is.
And even though it’s just a week til Christmas I still have time to paint a pet portrait if you order before Wednesday. Contact me at kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com .

Betty’s Cheyenne, acrylic on canvas, 12″x12″.
When I did the “Bark for the Park” series there were 48 paintings so of course, there were some breeds that I did not paint. One was the Rottweiler. My friend Betty loves the breed and has had several so she sent me a photo so I could paint one. Thanks Betty.
Boo

Today would have been Boo’s birthday.
She was a wonderful rescue shepherd who lived with us for a short time at the end of her life. She was 12 when she came to us. She was an elegant old girl who brought much joy to our lives in the limited time that we had her.
We were lucky that she “found us”! And we loved her very much. She left us in April 2004. It’s hard to believe that it has been seven years since she was here.

This is a painting of Boo that I have in my living room. I see her every day and am grateful for the time we had with her.
As a tribute to her I would encourage anyone thinking of adopting a pet to consider a senior. Older pets need good homes and they are often the best pet to bring into a busy household because they don’t need housebreaking and training. They just need love and companionship….and they give all of that and more back to you. Think about it.
We miss you “Miss Boo”-Bella Boobarina- Princess of Sweetness!.

Schnauzer helps Bark for the Park!

Schnauzer is an acrylic on 12″x12″ canvas. And thanks to a generous collector in Front Royal, he was purchased with proceeds going to help build the Off-leash dog park. Many thanks.
The “Bark for the Park” series is on display at the Daily Grind on Main Street in Front Royal. Stop in and take a look. And if you would like to help us build the dog park, send a donation to Warren County Dog Park Association, 939 S. Marshall St., Front Royal, VA 22630. We are so close to our goal. Please help if you can!

A Dachshund “Hot Dog”

A few months ago Maggie brought in this cute little stuffed toy – a dachshund with a hot dog costume on. So we photographed it and finally got around to painting it in class. If you look closely at Maggie in the photo you can see the toy on her head! This was a great lesson for the painters in shading. They all did a great job!!!
Relaxing Weekend
Posted in Dogs, tagged Dogs, West Virginia on September 5, 2011| Leave a Comment »
Spent a relaxing weekend at the cabin. No painting, no planning for art classes, no nothing but reading and hiking with the boys.
They loved it too. Jed and Lincoln have chunked up lately because we haven’t been able to go out there to hike.
We all got a jump-start on our exercise plan this weekend.
