Jed celebrated the successful opening with a can of food while I had a glass of wine! Thanks again to everyone for the really nice comments about my work. And I hope if you are downtown Front Royal you will stop by the Arts Council gallery and see it in person.

After Joan is an acrylic on gallery wrap canvas measuring 24″x12″. The Joan in the title is Joan Mitchell (no, not the singer) a wonderful abstract artist that produced beautiful paintings. She is one of the artists that we studied for the upcoming show at the arts council. The opening reception is tomorrow from 5:30-7 p.m. Stop by and see these paintings in person. The scope of the work is very interesting. We hung the show yesterday and it looks great!
After Helen

After Helen is an acrylic on gallery wrap canvas measuring 36″x48″. It is part of the upcoming show opening on Thursday at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.
One of the interesting parts of this show is that we studied several prominent women abstract artists and produced our versions of their art. Helen Frankenthaler was one. Joan Mitchell was another. Both of these painters were ahead of their time and did amazing abstract work.
