Dr. Albert Barnes (photo from http://www.barnesfoundation.org website)

This is Dr. Albert Barnes with one of his 181 Renoir paintings.  He owned more than any other collector or museum in the world.  For that reason alone you should go to the Barnes new museum in Philly to see it.  He once said, “I am convinced I cannot get too many Renoirs.”

You can learn more about Dr. Barnes here.

Last week I posted some photos of my art students painting their version of Stinkin’ Lincoln.  See it here.

And I promised to complete my demo piece which I did this week.  Here is the final version of mine that is now hanging on the wall with all my other dog paintings.  We just love that little furry face!

As you know, I work with kids art classes on Wednesday and Thursday at 4:15 at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.  And while I attempt to  complete a painting, a still life, a landscape, etc.,  almost every week, this is what they would love to do.  Drip paintings or splatter art is one of their favorites.  This is a piece I did on wood with them several weeks ago.  They love to just drip the paint and see what happens.

Checkerboard Heart by Kelly Walker

Today I am starting something new.  Two-fer Tuesday is where I will  share with you other bloggers that I enjoy reading.  I hope you will give them a look.

Painting Together

I really like it when my art students bring a family member with them to paint.  This past week Joy brought her granddaughter, Colleen, to class.  And as you can see, like grandmother-like granddaughter, they painted sunflowers.  Great job ladies.  And nice to meet you Colleen.  Please come join us again.

You may remember a few months ago that Olivia brought her G-Pa to class with her.  So cute!   Read about that here.

This is Sasha.  I painted her for the winner of a drawing that was held at Sassafras Farm in June.  Remember when I went over to paint the murals there.  Check it out here.

While there Suzanne had a fundraiser for the horse rescue where she got Patriot and Zip and anyone who donated $25 or more got their name entered in the drawing.  Sasha’s mom was the winner.

So here she is.

So off she will go this week to her new home.  Thanks Suzanne for giving the painting as the prize for your drawing.  And thanks for letting me help with the fundraiser for Phoenix Equine Rescue.  (See more about it here.)

My Wednesday Adult Class was jealous that I had only posted my young artist’s paintings recently so they posed for me last night.  Here’s Pat with her terrific painting of Jack and Pokey.  And Shelly is hiding behind the lovely door painting that she is working on this week.  Nice job ladies.

And here are the young artists with their finished Jackson Pollack inspired drip painting.  Excellent!
