One of the most frequent questions I am asked as a full-time artist is, “Do you hang your art at home”? And the answer is sure! I live with my art. I like it. Sometimes I live with pieces to see if there is anything more I want to add or adjust before I varnish them which is the final thing I do to a finished painting. And sometimes I live with them because I painted them specifically for an area in the home. That is what this piece is all about. I painted it for the spot above the TV stand at the Hilton Head house. It shows the water and the marsh. It fits nicely there. And I am lucky that I have a partner who also likes my work and encourages it to be hung in our home. 🙂

Warm-up Success

When I am on a roll painting I get up early and grab a cup of coffee and then generally take a sheet of watercolor paper divided into 6 or 8 pieces and do several quick warm-up paintings. I try not to spend but about 15 minutes working on these just to help me loosen up and get some color ideas. Sometimes I like what turns out. Yesterday while cleaning up pile of old warm-ups I came across several I like. I put them in a mat and liked them even more. So here is Warm-up in Orange and Warm-up in Green, acrylic on watercolor paper, available for $25 each.

Last night at our adult painting class we worked on miniature paintings. This is the time of year we like to work on these because they make great Christmas gifts for friends. Here are three that I did: (Top-Bottom: A View of Signal Knob, oil, 3″x5″; The Little Shed, oil, 3″x 5″; AnotherView of Signal Knob, oil, 4″x6″.) Interested in miniatures for gifts?
