Our sweet Jed often gets overpowered by his brother, the photogenic and wild Stinkin’ Lincoln.  But Jed, our sweet Jed, is the man!  He is the best boy….quiet and gentle…and getting to be an old guy.

Today is the 10th Anniversary of the crazy drive in the blinding snow when we went to get him.  You can read more about his story here.  We love this old guy with his graying  hair and sweet face.  He will always be the best!

20190103_055807.jpgThe Kid’s Class started back this Wednesday with a beautiful winter scene.  Kids paint at The Studio each Wednesday at 4:15-5:15 pm where we create a nice little painting each week.  If you have a young artist that would like to join us contact kwalker@thestudioforlearning.com and register them soon.

We made a visit to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens on the Ashley yesterday.  What a beautiful place even in the overcast day.

I can’t imagine how beautiful it must be in  the bright sunshine.

It would be worth a visit during the spring.  So many old oaks and tons of camellias blooming.  Lovely!

Flagler College

We made a stop by Flagler College yesterday…formerly Hotel Ponce de Leon.  The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer and entrepreneur who partnered with John D. Rockefeller to found the Standard Oil Company.  In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de León, his first in a series of luxury resorts along Florida’s east coast. A masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture and the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States is now known as Ponce de Leon Hall. A National Historic Landmark, it serves as the centerpiece for Flagler College.

Once again, you can find art everywhere you go. Yesterday I was at The World Golf Hall of Fame in St Augustine, Florida, and yes, there was art!  Every class that is inducted features a painting with the inductees.  This is the first one…the class of 1974.  The art was really nice.

Each painting is displayed in a gallery that lead to another display of bronze plaques of each inductee. 20181227_181051.jpgThe museum was well done with lots of interactive displays.

Well done.

VW Van Holiday PartyWe had a blast at a Holiday Family Paint Party a few days before Christmas.  Two participants had just gotten off the Red-Eye from California and they rolled in to paint these fun VW vans.  Nice work everyone….and so MUCH FUN!
