Early Painting Barbara GordonA long time friend (I won’t say old friend and neighbor) sent me a message recently about how much she enjoys a little painting that she has of mine.  It’s one that I did not long after I started painting.  Many of you know I  didn’t start painting until I was 29.  Barbara got this one before I moved from Kentucky where I was living when I discovered that I could paint.  (Thanks Bob Ross!)  It was a wonderful surprise to receive a message from Barbara saying that she still enjoys looking at this little piece every day.  Thanks Barb for making my day.

Last night in our Adult Art Class we all decided to give Finger Painting a try.  What fun it turned out to be….and messy! Everyone was game to paint fast and loose.  And boy did they turn out great.  We painted a little Koi pond with Lily Pads.  Sometimes it’s fun to do something a little different.  Great work everyone!  If you want to get creative come join us for art class on Wednesdays at 10:30 or 5:30 or Thursdays at 2 pm.  See more info here.

Yesterday (Monday) was my day off.  I try really hard to not schedule anything on Mondays since I work most weekends and it’s usually the only day off I get.  But yesterday, instead of laying around catching up on my rest and house work I went to visit my friends at Sanders Ranch (Battlefield Equestrian Center).

It’s owned by Kim Sanders, one of the girls that comes to paint Pet Portraits once a quarter with the group from Centerville area.  We always have such a great time.  While I have been to her place once she invited me to come back to paint.  So I did.  What a fun day.

I got two paintings started which I will share with you as soon as I complete them but even better than that I got tons of reference photos of the animals and barns.  It’s like a petting zoo there with all the fun and friendly animals…..donkey, horses, dogs, cats, sheep, chickens, turkey….  What fun!  Thanks again Kim.  I loved it.
