Deb’s Beautiful Blanket
Now you have a good excuse for all the crocheting you are doing! It’s good for your health. 🙂
Take a look at this interesting article from Red Heart that describes some of the many benefits of crocheting and knitting. Here is an excerpt: “Relaxed, repetitive motions such as the ones used in crochet and knitting can help calm down the body and the brain. Have you ever come home and sat down to work on your current project after a bad day? Not only does working on something you enjoy help, but the actual motions involved assist in creating a better mood.”
And here is Deb with the blanket she made after taking last month’s crochet class at The Studio. (See info on that here and here.) I told you this pattern worked up fast. Doesn’t it look GREAT?! She came by last night to learn about weaving in the ends which she’ll get done right away but I couldn’t resist getting this great shot of her with her blanket. Beautiful work Deb. Keep it up! Now on to “Popcorn and Bobbles”.

The New Granspirational Hobbies

My friend and fellow artist, Sandra Charles, shared this article with me yesterday. (You’ll remember Sandra as the one who made the “Cussing Jacket” and the Garden Princess with me.)
The article points out the hot new trend is not going out partying at bars with your friends but rather going out with friends to places like The Studio to learn something new inspired by our Grandparents – Granspiration! I LOVE IT! You have known me to talk about how my grandmothers taught me to crochet, to cook, to embroidery and more. Did I mention that I Love This???!!!!
Here is how the short article opens. Take a look. : The New Trend You And Your Granny Will Love – We’re not saying drinking in your local cocktail bar is ‘out’, but now the cool kids are scheduling it around Wednesday night’s jam-making class. Pottery, jam-making, baking and stitching. No, we’re not talking about Sunday afternoon at your nan’s house, but an evening out with the girls. That’s right, folks, granny hobbies are in – in a big way.” Click the source link to read the entire article.

Happy Adoption Day Jed!

It’s been 7 years ago today that we drove over to St. Clairesville, OH to the animal shelter there to get our sweet Jed. There was a terrible snow storm going on but we had to get him because his future was very uncertain. And boy, aren’t we the lucky ones. Jed is the sweetest boy ever!
You can read more about how Jed got his name here. And read even more about his story here. You can see many, many photos of Sweet Jed here.
We love you Jed. Thanks for being our good boy. Happy Adoption Day!
Crocheted Dog Sweater

I have had a couple of requests and questions about the dog sweater pattern that I made for Lincoln a few years ago. I am not a pattern writer but I tried to write down what I did for his sweater since so many people asked for it. I am sharing it here again. Remember that Lincoln is a long dog and weights about 55-60 lbs. The side view of Jed in the blue variegated sweater shows little more about how it looks. Feel free to change the pattern as you need for your pet.
You can see other patterns for crocheting by clicking the Crochet tab at the top of the page.
Mobius Cowl or Wrap

Our next Crochet Class at The Studio is going to feature this 2-in-1 wrap. You can wear it as a Mobius Wrap or as a bulky Cowl. Either way it’s very pretty and useful….and easy to make.
We will explore a variety of stitches that can be used for this one. Don’t miss it on Saturday, January 23rd at 1:30 pm. Click here to register.

Based on yesterday’s poll about 33% of you are interested in painting some landscapes. So I will work on pulling together a few for some upcoming paint parties. Thanks for the input.

Here are some ideas. What do you think?
