I made a day trip to Boston yesterday (yes, it’s a long way for a day trip) to see the Matisse exhibit. What an amazing display!!! I admit that I am a BIG fan of Matisse. But anyone who appreciates art and creating it would love this exhibit.
The premise of the exhibit is to feature the many objects, fabrics, furniture and more that Matisse collected over the years and how he used them in many of his paintings.
Over the next few days I will attempt to share with you some of the wonderful things I saw.
Enjoy!
The 4th Tuesday of each month at 6 pm we have a Famous Painter Party. This is where we recreate a famous painting by one of our favorite artist. We have done so many over the past year or so. We love these. This Tuesday we are recreating a Matisse….a little different from what we think of when we see Matisse’s work. We love it. Can’t wait to see how they turn out. Still a couple of seats open if you are up for it.
We saw the Matisse-Diebenkorn exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art this week. Fabulous! While photos were not allowed in the exhibit you
I have been working on a commission for my friend Sandy on and off for several months now. She had a very specific need for a long narrow painting to put over a cabinet in her dining room. She wanted in the style of Matisse with “The Dance” included as well as teapot and certain colors. She was happy with it when she picked it up. Whew!
Last week at our Famous Painters Party we painted a wonderful ode to Matisse. hey look GREAT! The next Famous Painter night is Tuesday, February 23rd at 6 pm and we will paint Cezanne.
Last year we started having a Paint Party once a month where we recreate a “Famous Painting” or paint in the style of a famous artist.
