Look at what a fantastic job this group of young artists did yesterday painting the Retro Flower image. I was explaining what retro meant and one of the little artist told me they look like “Future” flowers! I love that! Great job all around. Next month our theme for Kid’s Class is animals. Announcing the new Kid’s Class Series at The Studio…We are making a few changes to the Kid’s Class Series at The Studio. We are offering weekend sessions with a variety of themes (Landscapes, Still Life, Animals, Florals) for ages 6-12. Register your young painter for one session or for all of them. Space is limited to just 10 painters per session. We will have a variety of classes for ages 6-12 for 1 1/2 hour sessions. Check out the schedule here and register your young painter for one or all of them.
They will complete a beautiful painting while learning about color mixing, composition and use of painting materials. The remaining dates in the series are listed here. Be sure to register your young painter for them soon.

Eight years ago today we cut the ribbon and opened The Studio as a teaching studio on Main Street in Front Royal. What a day that was….and what an amazing 8 years that it has been! Who knew all the fun and creative things we would make…and who knew all the beautiful friendships that would form because of this creative place. We can’t thank everyone enough who has supported us in this endeavor. We love it and are so happy that many of you do too! Happy Anniversary to The Studio and here’s to several more years of making amazing things here!

Free motion quilting is a form of quilting that can be done on many domestic sewing machines. The feed dogs are lowered and you can move the fabric in the designs of your choice. If you want to learn this fun method of quilting join us at The Studio for a beginning class. You can move beyond straight line quilting and learn the basics of Free Motion quilting. This will move your work up to the next level. This class will teach the basics to get you started on the road to free motion on Saturday morning, August 27th at 10 am.
Class requirements: Must have some experience sewing on machine. Must bring your machine for this class. Be sure your machine will drop the feed dogs so you can free motion. (Contact Kelly if you aren’t sure.) Fee includes: Hands on instruction and layered “sandwich” for practice. Click here to register. Space is limited to 8 students.

Our little birthday girl (in the middle on the front row) celebrated yesterday with her friends and family at The Studio. Birthday Party FUN!!!! And all the kids painted these fun summer canvas that they got to take home to remember the day. Happy Birthday AV. Enjoy many more! Our 91 year old artist, Tilly, is still busy painting with us each week. Everyone loves her enthusiasm for art. We can’t wait to see what she wants to do each week.
