I just had to share this really neat mixed media art piece that Denise K gave me for my birthday. The little dog made out of rocks and the flowers from pottery pieces with the little line sketch is just amazing. It was such a wonderful surprise. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! Nice work Denise. You create the most beautiful artwork. Thanks for sharing it with me! If you don’t know Denise’s work check out her website, The Mud Peddler, here.

Sandy is Lincoln’s sitter. She has been with us even before Lincoln so she has been a family friend for a very long time. Recently she was admiring a specialty quilt that I made for another friend and I told her I would make one for her that featured something she loved. Did I mention that Sandy is an amazing photograper? Well, she is. So I wanted to make her quilt with a camera theme. I asked her to send me some photographs she had taken….some of her favorites. Having received them I started laying out a design that would include a camera and film and this is what I came up with. The camera and film roll are applique. The black and white film is pieced fabric made to look like film. I printed Sandy’s photos on EQ8 Satin Printable Fabric Sheets. The border fabric with cameras I got through Joann’s. This quilt took way more time in planning than I anticipated but I was happy with the results. And I think Sandy liked it!

A Belated Birthday Gift

I’ve been meaning to share this. Last month, my friend, Denise, who is an amazing artist that owns The Mud Peddler in Shepherdstown, WV, delivered this piece that she created for my birthday. It’s a pottery replica of The Studio!!!! And I just love it. It even has an opening in the bottom where I can put tea lights in it to make it glow. What a beautiful gift. Every time I look at it I see another detail. It’s just so amazing. Thanks Denise. Your art is terrific!!!
