Another Granny Stripe

Just completed this “Granny Stripe Variation” Afghan that I started last year as a sample piece for a crochet class at The Studio. It’s made from Red Heart Soft yarn and it is very soft. I completed the same blanket in a bulky yarn for the class…see it here...and wanted the students to see the difference in how the stitches look in the different size yarns as well as how fast the bulky yarn works up compared to worsted weight yarn. I like the fun color combination. It matches the bulky one that I gave to my niece at Christmas. She like it too!

I had a little time to go back and develop my scarecrow a little more after the Kid’s Class last week. It was a fun one!

Here is the second painting that you can choose from at the Senior Center fundraiser. This painting can be done by a single painter or if families wish to participate in this fundraiser they can each paint a canvas with half of this one to hang together to form a large painting. Kids would love to paint this one with you so come join us and help the Senior Center raise money for Meals on Wheels. It will be so much fun! Here is more information and where you can register.

We will be holding a fundraiser for the Senior Center Meals on Wheels program next month. We want everyone to come and help. This is one of the two paintings that we will offer. The original metal sculpture of this Tree of Life hangs on the wall at the Senior Center. When I visited Terry to talk about the fundraiser I saw it and thought it would be great to paint. So here is a version that we will offer at the fundraiser on Saturday, April 23rd. Put the date on your calendar and more details will be released soon. Come paint and help us do good in our community!

Sophia and I painted a little piece we call “Baking” yesterday during her private lesson. She did a GREAT job!
And I like how mine turned out, too.

If you do nothing else today you HAVE to watch this film trailer. I’ve been seeing a short video on Facebook the last few days promoting a new film about Vincent Van Gogh. It is and animated film about his life being made entirely using paintings in his swirling-choppy style and based on his letters. It is AMAZING!
You must watch this short video about the film…..and then watch the trailer for the film here. The things they can do with art and film is unbelievable. I can’t wait to see the completed film.

Even though the weather was beautiful Sunday afternoon our Paint Party group created “Winter Serenity”, a lovely winter scene. We were hoping it would be the last snow we would see this year. 🙂 Great work everyone!
