Two more of our beginning quilting students completed their “Beginning with a Star” quilt recently. Arent’t they amazing???!!!! Great work Melissa and Laura. Y’all did beautiful work. And it was fun seeing you embrace a new art. Can’t wait to do another quilt project with you!
Our beginning quilt class met Friday evening and Saturday and made these amazing quilts. We have just a little more to go to get finished but don’t they look great???!!! We all had fun while learning some new skills. Can’t wait to see them completed. Stay tuned. And check out all the upcoming classes at The Studio here.
Our “Begin With a Star” Quilt class finished up last night. It took us a little longer than expected to complete the quilt but we had such a good time together that we didn’t mind at all. These new quilters did an amazing job on their quilts and aren’t they gorgeous????!!!! Nice work ladies. I can’t wait till the next time we quilt together. If you would like to learn to quilt check out the upcoming events at The Studio here.
I completed this Starlight, Starbright quilt based on a Missouri Star Quilt Company pattern. I altered it a bit with a border around the star. This one I made as a traditional quilt top and sent it out to be longarm quilted. It turned out great! I love the look. It was made using charm packs (5″ squares) plus some yardage for the star and borders. I’m excited to share this one now as we have a tour group leaving next month to go visit the Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton MO. We will be making several stops along the way there and back to visit fabric and quilt related businesses. We’ll be gone for 9 days and I know we will see and acquire lots of great quilt related items. Stay tuned to see more about our adventure. And in the meantime watch in the next few days our Quilt Sale.
I call this one the Builder’s Star because it was the Christmas gift I made for the “Honey Puddin’ “….and he is a builder! I wish I could have gotten a better photo of it. It’s huge….the biggest quilt I have made so far but I knew he wanted a quilt that would cover his queen size bed so this one turned out 75″x98”. I really love how these stars work together. When I chose the two stars I didn’t realize the serendipity of having a heart appear in between the two stars when I put them together. Perfect! I still think handmade gifts are the best! He LOVED it. It is really hard to make something for him without him seeing it as he comes in and out all the time as I am sewing and quilting. When he asked about what I was working on last week I told him it was a quilt for an upcoming class in January. I think he believed me because when our friend Wilma was here for Christmas Eve dinner I asked her to help me photograph a big quilt I just completed. I had to stand on a chair and still couldn’t hold it up high enough for the photo to cover it all. Allen watched this and when we finished he said he wondered if maybe he could have that quilt when I was finished with it for the class. That’s when I flipped it to the back side to show him the label (See below). Merry Christmas!
The “Color Wheel Star” Quilt is completed. This is a Quilt as You Go project and we will be offering this project as a workshop soon. Watch for the date. The best part is this can be done in just a couple of days….and you can make the star in a variety of ways. Here is another version that we are working on that is made with Christmas fabrics.
Now don’t you wish you had come to paint with us yesterday? Just look at these amazing Barn Quilts that we painted yesterday at The Studio. These ladies did awesome work on 33″ and 24″ Barn Quilts. And the top right one is the first round barn quilt that I have done. I love them all! Watch for another class coming soon.
If you missed this class at The Studio you are going to be sorry. 🙂 Our Memorial Day and 4th of July tables are going to look so nice with our new table runners. Great work last night ladies. Can’t wait to see how they turn out next week.
