This is my Scrappy Bear Paw quilt. If you are a quilter you know how many scraps accumulate. I have tubs and baskets full! The good news is that scrappy quilts are some of my favorites so I am always working up scrappy designs. This is one I just got back from the longarmer, Pat Burnham. She did an awesome job with it. Now off to make another scrappy quilt. 🙂

Finally got Lincoln off of the String Quilt blocks long enough to complete this throw. I’ve been trying to use up some scraps. It seems like they multiply when I put them in the bin to wait for a project. I’m going to try to eliminate the huge scrap supply this year. Right!!!

Quilters have lots of scraps. And it seem that where ever the scraps are stored there must be low lights and romantic music because they multiply! I am obsessed with String Quilting. I was looking for something to do with the TON of scraps I have left from multitudes of rag quilts we have made in workshops. I had boxes of scraps and have been wanting to clean out but I hate to throw away anything useful….you know what I mean. So I started looking for something that we might be able to do as a workshop at The Studio….something a step beyond the beginning rag quilts that we make. I think I found it in the “Quilt As You Go” method of String Quilts. These are so much fun to make and there are many options for designs. I love the scrappy look of these diagonal squares but you could purchase matching fabric to make a more “uniform” design. I’ll share again when it’s done but I had to lay out the squares I finished to see how it was going and I LOVE IT! Twelve squares here and I am going to do 8 more before I connect them. Can’t wait to see it!!!!
